Early Pregnancy Back Pain

Early Pregnancy Back Pain...

Your body goes through numerous changes at the onset of pregnancy and there are new symptoms everyday.

Early pregnancy back-pain is one of them and is very common too.
Early Pregnancy Back Pain

There is nothing to worry about back pain during pregnancy as it is quite common among pregnant women and is in fact unavoidable.

Common Causes of Back Pain During Pregnancy

You may have the tendency to take things lightly during early pregnancy.

Often, unknowingly you may make the wrong moves and postures repeatedly without actually realizing your mistake.

But by the time you realize it, it is too late. Your muscles weaken, thus losing their flexibility.

When your abdominal muscles grow weak, they are unable to support the backbone well. This leads to higher chances of your backbone getting hurt.

A mild pain occurs at times. With the passage of time, this backache becomes severe, making it almost impossible to carry on without suitable treatment.

Normal And Short-Term Phenomenon

Early pregnancy back pain is a normal phenomenon in every pregnant woman's life.

Most expectant mothers witness some degree of back pain during the early phase of pregnancy and this pain generally subsides after about 20 weeks.

Backache or spasm, which is reflected by stretching of muscles or burning pain in the left or the right side of the quadrant, is normally the result of the softening of the supporting ligaments and disks due to an increase in the progesterone hormone during the early stage.

In some cases, urinary infection during pregnancy can also result in pain in your back.

The extra weight of your body and the change in your centre of gravity also result in backaches and pain.

Remedies For Pregnancy Back Pain

Pregnancy back pain generally occurs due to action of hormone progesterone, being released in your body.

It softens (relaxes) the ligaments and discs in your back, which are responsible for supporting your upper body.

Sometimes you may experience urinary infection during pregnancy, which can also lead to early pregnancy back pain.

Also since your body weight rapidly increases in this phase putting extra pressure on your spine, it causes pain.

As your belly grows forward your centre of gravity also changes resulting in backaches.

Posture is very important as far as back pains are concerned and during pregnancy it changes drastically, so you should take care of it too.

Having correct posture helps to not only relieve but also prevent lower back pain in early pregnancy.

Just follow these rules...

  • While sitting or standing, be upright, chin up
  • Don't lean forward or backward while walking
  • Avoid sitting or standing for a long time
  • Try to shift your weight from one foot to the other, if you have to stand for long time
  • If sitting for long, just get up and walk a while from time to time
  • Rest your feet while sitting, on a support
  • Never sit cross legged
  • Avoid sleeping on your back
  • Use pillow to support your back/ thighs, on bed
  • When getting up from bed or chair do it slowly, don't jerk your body.

Exercise Your Body To Good Health

If you have realized the problem during early pregnancy, you are lucky enough to get it cured with proper instructions from your health advisor or doctor.

It is very vital for you to treat it as soon as possible since you have to get ready for the labour or the advanced stage of pregnancy.

The best remedy to get rid of backache is to start exercising daily. Make it a part and parcel of your routine and adhere to it.

It is totally a mess free way to good health as no medication is required while following this procedure.

Apart from this, consider having a healthy diet that contains all the necessary components that would enrich your body.

Exercising and a balanced diet are the two means of maintaining general well being.

And when you are pregnant, it means that your concern for it needs to be doubled since it works for the two of you - you and your baby.

Any problem including early pregnancy back pain should be taken to task, and on time.

Remember, the more you care about your body, the more can you expect from it.
