My Child First Word Said "APPLE"

by Jean Gagne
(Leominster, Mass. Worcester)

My child at 11 months old count not roll from front to back and back to front.

I took him to Early Intervention in my state. They did a lot of testing and was in the program for 3 years.

We found out a small part of his brain was brain dead.

The part that controlled the gross motor area. I put him into alot of things that helped his gross motor.

They also gave him speech. One problem he had he was very bright but could not get it out.

His IQ at one years old was 135. Once he received the help and speech his first word was apple.

Today he is 26 years old and very successful and works in Boston Mass. with numbers at a book store that writes books.

It pays off when you get the right help at the right time. Also he has been playing soccer since age of 3 years old and still does.

When he was four years old we would go to the store to pick up 304 items and by the time we checked out he had added it up in his head and was only off by a feww cents because of sales tax.

This is an inspiring story. Thanks for sharing.
